PELL CITY - Mrs. Juanita Savage passed away Saturday August 5, 2017. She is preceded in death by her husband, Howard Savage; daughter, Joan Golden and brother, Billy Wayne Vaughan
She is survived by her son, Gary (Diane) Savage; sister, Jean Bishop; grandchildren, Amy (Scott) Kearley, Jim (Kris) Golden, Tyler Savage, Blair (Neil) Tindell; great-grandchildren, Dani Kearley, Jack and James Golden.
Mrs. Savage was formerly Juanita Vaughn growing up in the Mt. Moriah Community. In November 1950 she married the love of her life, Howard Savage. The couple celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary in 2010, shortly before Mr. Savage passed away. Howard and Juanita were parents to a daughter, Joan Savage Golden and a son, Gary Savage. The Savages were poultry and cattle farmers for over 40 years. Mrs. Savage loved her church family and was a dedicated member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church where she served as Music Director for many, many years. Besides church, Mrs. Savage enjoyed gardening and fishing and had a passion for cooking. One of her greatest joys was cooking for others, especially her family. Every meal she cooked was prepared with love and was always delicious. Mrs. Savages' godly and steadfast life influenced everyone she touched, and was lovingly called Nannie by many.
During her years of failing health, Mrs. Savage was able to remain in her home with the assistance of exceptional caregivers. Her family offer a special thank you to Deborah Wright, Mary Ann Hutchins, Donna Lee and Linda Starnes. Also thank you to Dr. McClanahan and staff and to St. Vincent's Hospice.
Funeral Service for Juanita Savage, age 82, will be held Wednesday, August 9, at 11:00 a.m.at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church (1425 Mt. Moriah Rd. Pell City, Al 35125).
